WHERE WE WORK / Programs

The Artisan Enterprise Development Alliance Program (AEDAP) in India is a 5 year program launched in 2006 implemented by ATA in partnership with the All India Artisans & Craft Workers Welfare Association (AIACA). The program seeks to build the capacity of Indian artisan enterprises, designers, and craft development organizations through business training, product design/development, and marketing support.

Accomplishments
  • Founding the India Market Readiness Program (IMRP), a four-day craft business training held in conjunction with the India Handicraft and Gifts Fair, South Asia’s largest gift and handcrafts show. The IMRP is an integrated approach to business, product development and marketing training. It is based on the idea that rather than simply learning about the market, participants experience the market through interactive training.
  • Now in its third year, the Artisan Enterprise Development Alliance Program in India is providing 18 artisan enterprises, including 6 added this year, with business training, product design, and marketing assistance. These enterprises represent over 7,000 artisans, 94% of whom are women.

Communities Benefited
ATA is currently working to assist artisan enterprises in each of the following states: Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand.
