Zoodo
Project Date: 2007-2012Zoodo is an association founded in 1996 with a two-pronged goal; providing training and income opportunities to women and providing education programs to disadvantaged children. Zodoo’s original focus was on soap production and farming, however, in 2006 the association received training and began production in ginning, spinning, knitting, weaving and dying organic cotton. They sell naturally dyed yarn and knitted, crocheted, and woven home and fashion accessories, working exclusively with natural dyes and organic cotton. They have three managers, 12 knitters and work with more than 250 ginners and spinners in the villages surrounding them. They worked with a Swiss expatriate in Ouagadougou who helped them design and make the children’s sweaters, hats and dresses.
