Filimone Mucavele
A young, hard working carver with an entrepreneurial spirit, Filimone was one of the first artisans to collaborate with Aid to Artisans in Mozambique in 1999. Filimone's work is distinctive for its colorful birdlike forms that become graceful candlesticks and painted carved bowls. His long Nyokha, or snake-like candlesticks, continue to sell years after Aid to Artisans first showed them in New York.- Mozambique
