Croix des Bouquets

Croix de Bouqets

Project Date:  2010-2012

Iron work, one of the signature crafts of Haiti, originated in the 1940’s in the town of Croix des Bouquets, in the atelier of famed artist Georges Liautaud. Now hundreds of artisans produce hand-chiseled iron work in and around the same community. The original medium, metal from used oil drums, has become scarce and commercial sheet metal is now being used to produce most pieces. Visitors to Croix des Bouquets will find the streets lined with the ateliers of well known metal artisans producing these remarkable intricate designs with the utmost precision.
