Comptoir Musologique des Objets d'Arts d'Abomey (COMOA)
Project Date: 2007-2012COMOA is an association located in Abomey, Benin, and is a member of COPATRA fair trade organization. Since the beginning of Aid to Artisan’s project in West Africa they have changed from using imported Chinese cotton to locally grown and organic cotton which has improved the quality of their products. They have also begun adapting the designs given to them into a range of new products. They have close to 20 employees, both male and female and have an active apprenticeship program that supports orphans and provides scholarship funds for employees. Artisans are paid per piece and receive a portion of the total profits.
