Sinignesigui
Project Date: 2007-2012Sinignesigui is a cooperative in Segou, Mali that employs over 40 women. These women are trained in sewing, dying, the bogolan technique (dying fabric with fermented mud) and weaving products from locally grown cotton. Most of the products are sold in shops targeted towards tourists. In order to improve their business skills they have attended several trainings with other artisan groups in Mali and are working with Peace Corps volunteers to learn English to better communicate with the tourist market.
