Avani
Avani textiles are made by women artisan groups in the Kumaon Himalayas of India. Being respectful of the environment as well as traditional life, they use local materials to for natural dyes and fibers such as handspun Tibetan wool and wild silks for their luxurious shawls, scarves and home accessories.Avani founders actively support and promote village-based improvements such as solar lighting for remote households, solar water heaters and driers, rainwater harvesting and techniques of organic farming. The financial systems and fair wages to make these programs sustainable have also been established.
